LIFE Season 1 DVD: It’s the WRONG MUSIC !!!
Ever since it’s been announced that the DVDs for the first season of LIFE were coming up, there’s been one thing that has been really worrying me : what music would be used ?? It’s no surprise to anyone who’s been watching and loving the first season that the music on LIFE is incredible. It’s always very carefully chosen, more than ever it is part of an ensemble, just like L.A. could be seen as a character on the show, the music is a voice, an important one.
The creative minds behind the show have not hidden that it was a very important part of the show, and the musical selection has always been pretty amazing. But, while the episodes as they originally aired were done the way they were intended to, NBC soon introduced some crappy “rewind version” replacing the music carefully selected for the show by some other songs, cheaper songs.
Of course it is a nightmare, I never watched those because it made me sick, it ruined everything, it sometimes completely destroyed the atmosphere of the scene, the tone, changed the feelings that were communicated as we were watching it… Gosh, I hate NBC. And ever since the news that the DVDs were coming, I have feared that NBC, trying to save a few bucks, would do the unthinkable and ruin the show right on the DVDs, not using the original music.
It seems impossible, but this is NBC we’re talking about. They did it for their “rewind version”, and looking at the recent promos they really don’t care about the show and don’t mind messing it up, and to be honest that is the only reason I still haven’t (pre-)ordered my DVDs yet : as excited as I am about all the bonus included, I can’t bare the idea of paying for a butchered version of my beloved show, I need to know first : what music will be featured on the DVDs ??
The Path To Zen has been able to exclusively confirmed that, well, they did it. The music used on the DVDs is NOT the music as intended by the creative minds from the show, it is NOT the music used during the original airing of the episodes, they butchered LIFE even in its first season !!!
I was able to get the first seconds of episode 10 (Dig A Hole), which also just so happens to be my personal favorite episode, and the episode opens with a pretty awesome song : Ride, by Liz Phair - which can be found on whitechocolatespaceegg (Buy the MP3) - and on the DVDs, this song has been replaced by something else, and let me tell you : it is nowhere near as good.

As far as I’m concerned, I couldn’t be more pissed right now, I’m disgusted, and I’m not even sure I’ll buy the DVDs now… I don’t want this crap! I freaking HATE NBC !!!
