Today the 10 finalists for a nomination in the Best Drama Actor has been made public, and here’s the sad truth : Damian Lewis isn’t on that list either!
After snubbing LIFE in the Best Drama category, Sarah Shahi in the Best Supporting Drama Actress, now we get yet another one lack of consideration as not only is Damian Lewis not on the list of finalists, but I can’t believe names like James Spader, Eddie Izzard or Patrick Dempsey being there. I mean, again, no offense but based on the work they do on their shows and not what they may have done in the past, or how much the public love them, Damian Lewis deserves to be up there, no question!
Of course this isn’t really a surprise, unfortunately LIFE didn’t receive a huge public success, even though those who watched quickly become in love and addicted with the show (I believe), and let’s not forget that if the awesome Hugh Laurie is on the list, the Academy never gave the guy an Emmy, despite the terrific work he’s been doing on HOUSE for a few years already…

…but she already has in my eyes.
So, maybe it was a tough call but I really wanted it to happen, and I’m quite pissed to see that our beloved Sarah Shahi won’t get an Emmy this year, because the list of “potential nominees” or finalists for Best Supporting Drama Actress is out, and sadly her name isn’t there.
Now I know quite a few names totally deserves to be on that list (Rose Byrne on DAMAGES comes to mind…) but I really believe that Sarah Shahi’s performance on LIFE was Emmy-worthy, at the very least of a nomination. Hell, I was re-watching Powerless (S01E06) last night, and I dare you to watch that and tell me she’s not delivering some Emmy-worthy performance right there !

While waiting for the nominations, the Emmys have released the lists of top 10 finalists for best comedy and drama series. Sadly, LIFE isn’t on the list. So that one we won’t get, but there’s still hope in the acting categories.
Apparently, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences planned to release the top 10 lists in the acting categories as well, but it’s temporarily on hold while the Academy chiefs survey the industry response to this unprecedented release of the program top 10s. Let’s hope they do, and more importantly that Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi made it!
For info, here’s the top 10 :
BOSTON LEGAL
DAMAGES
DEXTER
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
GREY’S ANATOMY
HOUSE
LOST
MAD MEN
THE TUDORS
THE WIRE
It’s that time of year again, Emmy fever is in the air, and NBC is campaigning their shows, including LIFE of course. This is really good news, and hopefully it might lead to more promotion of the show, maybe even more (*cough*reruns*cough*).
As part of their effort, NBC published this ad found in Variety, and as you can see below, once again we have Sarah Shahi in a sexy tank top, something that is completely out of character for Reese. Let’s try to ignore that and be happy she’s actually included, I guess.
Here’s a scan of the ad, thanks to adlervan :

NBC Universal also launched a website, Nominate 08, to promote their shows and presents their candidates for Emmy consideration, among which if our beloved LIFE (NBCU distributes Fox’s hit-drama HOUSE, hence why it’s on the list). For a little, if you were living in the U.S., you could order your own LIFE button (among others), but due to overwhelming demand this isn’t possible anymore.
The candidates for our show are as follow :
- Outstanding Drama Series: LIFE
- Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Damian Lewis
- Supporting Actress in a Drama Series: Sarah Shahi
- Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: Brent Sexton
- Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: Adam Arkin
